Dell 1100 Printer - Some Things Are Black And White

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

One of the most dependable and well performing, low budget printer today is the Dell 1100 Printer. It is a great solution for home users, mostly the ones who want to print standard texts and low priority small graphics. Dell has always been introducing well appointed printers, both for personal and professional use, but it seems that now users are quite interested in the 1100, due to a comprehensive array of features and low, less than $100, price. Not to mention the Dell 1100 toner.

The Dell 1100 Printer is one of the most popular laser monochrome printers available in the market today. The main reason is, of course, its very affordable price; not many printers of less than $100 perform that well and it seems that customers appreciate that a lot. A laser printer for home use, packed with several good features and an easy to navigate through menu, is more than enough for an average user, or even for internal business use.

The Dell 1100 produces very nice texts; crisp and clear, with no dithering or line break ups - you can see some line break ups in graphics, in very thin lines, but this is the Achilles heel of all printers of this league, so nothing surprising or unexpected here. Actually the 1100 performs impressively for its price and category in both texts and graphics.

Although graphics is not the main strength of monochrome printers, Dell 1100 seems to perform pretty well; the produced graphics are also very clear, with no breakups. If you use the printer at home or for small graphic work at the office you will be more than satisfied, as all tones of grey and black are clear and distinctive. Pictures are also good. The Dell 1100 printer manages to produce pictures of at least newspaper quality. It would be rather unfair to expect superb image quality from this category but it seems that Dell 1100 doesn’t struggle to produce satisfying pictures, which is definitely one of its great advantages. Intelligible and well appointed pictures are to be expected; in most cases home users that buy a monochrome laser printer do not use it for more complicated image work, so Dell 1100 is a great solution.

The printer doesn’t seem to have any problem with subtle nuances and gradations, and you cannot see annoying effects such as stepping in graphics. These kinds of printers are designed to produce readable backgrounds and crisp texts and this is definitely what you will get from the 1100 printer. Crisp edges and clear texts that reach perfection.

The Dell 1100 Printer is a small, well appointed printer, which comes with a very easy setup system; its installation lasts just a couple of minutes and the overall use is very easy, as it rids you of unnecessary tasks and complicated procedures in calibration and configuration. The typical and automatic installation is fast and easy - especially in comparison with most printers of the same kind.

The built quality is quite sturdy; in fact the 1100 is a solid and small printer that can be placed easily on a desk without taking too much space. The paper tray is open though, so it can get easily dusty, although a removable dust guard facilitates everything. The Dell 1100 printer comes with a rather small toner cartridge, although the Dell 1100 toner cartridges in the market can print up to 2000 pages and cost about $50.
